Almost everyone on this island presents themselves as a duct installer. The difference between installing and fabricating sounds like a nuance and is not: it changes the outcome of the job.
Whoever only installs works with what exists. They buy catalogue sections and fittings and adapt the route to what was delivered. When the house does not match the catalogue — and it almost never does — the answer is to choke a section, add another bend or take a detour. All three are paid for later in noise, in running cost and in air that never reaches the back rooms.
Whoever fabricates adapts the duct to the house. If a transition from 300×200 to 450×120 is needed because a beam runs through, that piece gets made. It exists in no catalogue and it does not need to.
And whoever measures is whoever fabricates. There is no middleman between the tape measure and the folding machine. That is where centimetres get lost, joints end up badly fitted, and the leaks start that two summers later are a stain on the ceiling.
What that means on your job: fewer days indoors, less dust, fewer people, and ductwork that does what it should without being forced.
1 · Survey on site. We come and look. We measure the real clear height to the structural slab, not to whatever ceiling is currently up; we look at where the route can go, where the outdoor unit lands, what structure has to be worked around and what access there is for materials. In refurbishment this cannot be done from drawings: drawings lie.
2 · Designing the route. The whole system is drawn before anything is cut: sections per run calculated by airflow and velocity, distribution by room, where the access panels go and how the condensate drain falls. Sizing by velocity and not only by airflow is what separates a silent installation from one that whistles.
3 · Cutting and folding in the workshop. Each run is cut to its own measurement and folded. Steel is seamed and reinforced to section and working pressure; fibreglass is cut and folded from the panel. Pieces leave marked by run so they go up in order on site.
4 · Preparation. Insulation where it belongs, joints sealed, bespoke pieces resolved and access panels allowed for. All of that happens in the workshop, sitting down, with light and with room. Doing it on site, standing up inside a ceiling void, is where mistakes are made.
5 · Installation. Hung on its supports, joined, sealed, with the drain falling as drawn. Access panels are left where they will be needed in five years, not where it is convenient to leave them today.
6 · Testing and handover. Airflows checked, grilles balanced, handed over working with a record of what is installed.
We do not work in one material and defend it for everything. We work in four and tell you which belongs in your case, which is often a mixture.
Fibreglass. Climaver-type rigid panel, cut and folded to each run. Factory insulated and it absorbs air noise. The default for interior residential work. Not for outdoors and not for kitchens.
Galvanised steel. Cut, folded, seamed and reinforced to section and pressure. For outdoors, roofs, exposed runs and large sections. Insulated separately with wrap and foil, and that is not optional: bare steel with cold air inside condenses and drips.
Spiral duct. Tube and couplers for exposed installation in warehouses, industrial units, car parks and open-ceiling restaurants. Less friction than a rectangular of the same section, so less pressure loss.
Stainless steel. AISI 304 and 316. Kitchen extraction, aggressive environments and seafront properties. 316 contains molybdenum and withstands the chlorides in sea air; fitting 304 where 316 belonged is cheaper on day one and dearer in year four.
This is what fabricating actually means, and it is what cannot be offered by someone who only fits what they buy.
Transitions. Rectangular to round, one section to another, one width to another because a beam is in the way. Calculated so the change is gradual and does not create turbulence.
Plenums. The connection box between unit and ductwork, and grille connection boxes. Made to the unit being fitted, not the other way round.
Bespoke bends and branches. Angles that are not in any catalogue because the route through the house is not in any catalogue either.
Kitchen canopies. In stainless, to the size of the space and the cooking points, with their filters and duct connection. Canopy and ductwork are normally made together so everything matches.
Hoppers, terminations and roof discharge pieces. Whatever is needed for the air to leave where it should, at the right height and distance.
A significant part of what we do is working as a trade supplier to other companies.
Two ways of working. Fabrication only, with the ductwork delivered cut, folded and marked by run for your own team to install. Or fabrication and installation, with our technicians on your site.
You hold the project, the site management and the certification. We provide the workshop and, if needed, the labour. We do not speak to your client unless you want us to.
Package measurement. Send us the drawings and the specification and we return the ductwork package measured and itemised by material and section. That is useful for your tender even if you do not award us the work.
Trade rates. Say so when you call and we will talk about it directly, not at domestic prices.
Lead times. They depend on volume and season. October to February the workshop is loaded with hotel refurbishment; the sooner you confirm, the sooner you are in the queue.
Homes and villas. Fibreglass ductwork above the ceiling, routed through corridors and service areas so the living room ceiling does not have to drop.
Hotels. Rooms, public areas and kitchen, three different jobs on one site, with the closed-season deadline governing everything else.
Restaurants and bars. Stainless extraction with access panels, balanced make-up air and the dining room conditioned separately.
Warehouses and workshops. Exposed spiral, high airflows and aligned installation, because it is judged from the floor.
Car parks. Forced ventilation for residential buildings, phased so the car park stays in use.
Shops and offices. Flat, quiet routes with the roof discharge planned from the start, so you do not end up arguing with the building.
