Estellencs does not reach four hundred inhabitants. It is the smallest village on the Tramuntana coast and works almost as a single sloping street.
Almost everything done here is refurbishment: two-storey stone houses, sometimes with the kitchen below and bedrooms above, and the original timber structure.
There are seasonal foreign-owned houses and the odd small guesthouse. The client normally wants a discreet installation that does not change the character of the house.
Distance governs: we are at the far end of the coast road, so we organise the work in full days with the material calculated, not in odd visits.

In the Tramuntana no two houses are alike, and almost none was built with ductwork in mind. Half-metre stone walls, vaulted floor structures, exposed timber beams the owner has no intention of hiding, and ceilings that change height from room to room.
Here the route is the project. It is not drawn in an office: it is drawn in the house, going up to look at what sits above each ceiling. Sometimes the right route is not the short one, it is the one that does not force you to touch a beam.
Exposed beams stay exposed. If the owner wants to keep them, and they almost always do, the duct goes wherever it can be hidden: a cupboard, a corridor, a loft. It can be done, but it has to be drawn beforehand, not improvised.
The facade is usually listed. That governs where the outdoor unit can go and how the duct can reach the roof. We look at it with you and, if needed, propose the solution the town hall will actually accept rather than the one that causes trouble.
And access. Single-car streets, nowhere to park, sometimes steps. Fabricating the ductwork in our workshop and bringing it up ready is not a bonus here: it is the only way to do the job without blocking the village for three days.
Right by the sea an installation does not age the same way. The air carries chlorides, and chloride eats the zinc off galvanised steel well before its time. Ductwork that would last inland starts pitting here within a few years.
