Santa María sits on the Palma–Inca road in the middle of vineyard country, and is one of the towns that has drawn the most people out of the city.
The result is an unusual mix: renovated country houses with city budgets and expectations of finish, alongside wineries and the premises around the Sunday market.
In housing the typical property is a wide town house with a rear courtyard and high ceilings, which gives plenty of scope to run the ductwork unnoticed.
